We have 2 tropical storms brewing; one in the Atlantic Ocean, the
other in the Pacific Ocean. The good news is neither are expected to
make landfall.
Bret is the second storm for the Atlantic 2011
season, following Tropical Storm Arlene, which made just a little impact
on Campeche and Tampico, Mexico. Bret is not expected to make landfall,
but may produce some heavy rainfall for Bermuda if it veers to the east
over the next few days. It is also expected to stay a tropical storm,
and not make it up to hurricane strength (74mph+).
Dora
is the 4th storm in the eastern Pacific for the 2011 season, following
Adrian, Beatriz, and Calvin. Adrian made it to a category 4 strength,
but stayed in the Pacific Ocean, never making landfall. Beatriz made it
to a category 1 strength, and just clipped the western edge of Puerto
Vallarta and Manzanillo, Mexico. Calvin made it to a category 1
strength, but stayed in the Pacific Ocean. Dora is expected to get up to
a major hurricane strength (category 4 or 5) by Thursday of this week,
but is NOT expected to make landfall.
